Our Sustainability Mission

We are committed to creating products and cultivating an environment that is accountable each and every step of the way. We embrace sustainability in all things we do.

Our retail coffee is packaged in biodegradable plastic bags, encased within house-printed recyclable cardboard boxes.

We’ve partnered with a couple local composters over the years to reduce landfill waste. Initially, Rangel Worm Farm composted all of our grounds and coffee chaff (dust) in their vermi-composting facility in our shared West Bottoms neighborhood. Feeding 100,000 worms a month is a lot of work but, shockingly quickly, our coffee production outgrew their ability to process! We have since partnered with Compost Collective KC to not only compost Blip’s waste, but also provide a location for other Kansas Citian’s to drop off their compostable waste. As a community, Kansas City has already diverted 808,450lbs. of waste from landfills!

To further reduce landfill waste, we also partner with Ripple Glass, keeping 100 pounds of glass from landfills each month.

In our first year at the flagship West Bottoms location, we converted the entire building to LED lighting and, in 2022, we will add solar panels to the building, decreasing air pollution and greenhouse gases as well as overhead costs.
